Why did I choose this castle?  Easy.  It's very defensible. Well, that's it.  It is finally over.  Talli and I dropped the keys off with the landlord today after the last of the equipment was picked up and moved out.  We had a good run of it.  At least we went out on our own terms, the way I always like to do things.  It's best to take control of your fate instead of letting fate take control of you.  It leaves you with better options.

Easter is here once again.  In celebration, Talli and I released one of our koi that we had in quarantine into our pond.  Roy the Koi, our Yellow Gin Rin Yamabuki Ogon, was released today during lunch.  Monster immediately took a liking to Roy and the two have been inseparable since.  They both swim around together quite a lot.

Well, I missed my post yesterday.  I was too busy trying to find some equipment online to do some podcasting.  I was hoping to get an iRiver iFP 799T.  Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore.  Also, the replacements either don't have a line in, are too expensive, or too bulky.  I think I might get a refurbished one. For the final edition of the China Series, we're going to  have the Yonghe Temple.  It's also known as the "Lama Temple."  It has that second name because it became a Lamasery, which is a monastery of Tibetan Buddhist monks.  In the Temple, we saw a huge statue of the Buddha that was made from one tree.  The statue filled the building all the way to the ceiling. Of course, some parts of the wall are in much better shape than others. China was an amazing experience.  So much history and, despite what they want you to believe, so much poverty still. Last weekend while I was offline due to AT&amp;T not being able to sell us DSL promptly, the weather devastated our house.  Okay, maybe that's a little overstated.  It was cold.  There was hail and vertical rain.  You can see the hail picturesd here near the founatin.  So, it was unpleasant to be walking outside.  Inside, everything was okay, with the exception of having no internet connection.

Nobody wanted it then and they didn't for the week we had it out this time either.  Although last time we put it out we did get rid of the other toilet and two sinks.  One sink didn't even have a counter with it.  Strange, huh?

Talli and I were walking back to our hotel from the Spanish Steps.  We turned a corner and there it was.  I wasn't even expecting it.  It's amazing and the scope of it is astounding. I don't mind the idea of a jacket or the price: $9.99.  It's the color that I'm not so excited about.  Oh, well.  Hunter doesn't mind, but then again, he's color blind.  We picked up the jacket at Petsmart.  It was half off and we had a $3 off coupon.  That brought the price down to $6.99.

On Sunday, Talli and I were invited to have brunch with Sister Evangela at the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose.  They have their mother house just a few blocks from our clinic.  So, we headed over there on Sunday.

First, Talli and I sat through a mass in their new chapel.  It was a very enjoyable experience. Yes, another fish down the toilet.  We lost the second of the three yellow koi.  After disposing of the second koi though a miraculous thing happened.  The last yellow koi, the littlest one, came out and joined the other fish.  I guess he was done helping the other sick fish. It's time for some sad news...sort of.  One of the three yellow koi I rescued from the feeder tank moved on to the ocean today.  He went there via the toilet, of course.  That's the first loss we've experience since our initial batch of fish.  At current count we still have 14 of the 17 fish we acquired.  Not too bad.  Twelve of those fish are destined for the pond. I just want to make a fish/pond update.  The three new yellow koi that I pulled out of the feeder tank were added to the 50 gallon aquarium yesterday.  Since then, they've been hiding in the coliseum ruins.  They haven't eaten since they were put in, but I'm not worried yet.  It takes time for fish to acclimate to a new environment.

The solution to viewing the fish in our very tall above ground pond arrived Monday.  It was a bistro set that Talli found on Yardiac.com for a great price.  Wednesday, I set the table and chairs up.  It took a while to get it all set up.  The main delay was all the wrapping.  They weren't messing around.  It was wrapped like a mummy.

*Wine update*

Many porto houses in Portugal declared the 2003 year as a vintage year for porto wine.  What does that mean?  On average, only three times in a decade is a vintage year declared.  The port wine has to reach a certain quality to be released as a vintage wine.  The last year that was declared was the 2000 vintage.  Understand what I'm saying?  This is a good batch of wines.

Well, during that time I took a few weeks to redo our bathrooms.  I always meant to put those pictures up when there was a slow news day.  Well, guess what.  It's a slow news day.

Finally, I've gotten the completed pond picture up.  Now you can all see what I'd been describing.  I have some pictures with the fish, but they were all fuzzy.  The fish were either uncooperative or just remarkably unphotogenic.  Maybe I'll post some pictures another time and you can all judge for yourselves.

And the new world record holder for the bench press in the 47-53 year old under 114 lb category is...ITA PANTILAT!  Breaking her old world record of 192.4 lbs, Ita lifted 198.2 lbs.  It was an amazing competition.
