1986 Dow's Quinta do Bomfim Porto Review
As promised, here's my 1986 Quinta do Bomfim Porto review. Disclaimer: I am not a professional reviewer. These are my feelings and as such are absolutely 100% correct...for me. Your results may vary. After giving the porto over an hour to breathe, I took my first sip. The first sip was very nice. There were strong berry notes. It was smooth, especially since Wine Spectator said that 1997 was the time to drink it at its peak. It had a medium length finish. This porto was very good. The porto was actually even better when I had some more later. It opened up a bit more displaying a little more complexity. I'd say that this is one of the best portos I've ever drank. Now, I know I have at least 10-12 better bottles in my collection, but they won't be ready to drink for at least 5 years for some, most won't be ready for over ten years. Some won't be ready for twenty - thirty years. So, this is one of the best vintage ports I'll probably drink for a few years(one of the few also). I can't wait to see what the other vintages have to offer.
